Cross of Timotheos, Egyptian, late 14th. This iron bene- dictional cross was found in Timothos' grave, although burials at this time were usually without funeral gifts. Clerics were buried in their robes of office, but Thimoteos was buried in his travelling clothes and may have died on his trip to take office at the cathedral of Qasr Ibrim in Nubia. In his grave were also found two "letters of appointment" by the Coptic patriarch to his new See, dated 1372. EA, 71955.
