Stoneware ewer in the form of a mermaid, liao dynasty, 10th-11th century. Mermaids are not usually part of the Chinese iconography and the figure is more related to Buddhist tradition. In the 10th ans 11th centuries, the liao kilns produced both white wares and sancai (three-coloured) wares. OA 1937.7-16.69
