Orazio Gentileschi. The artist was born in Pisa and worked in Rome, moving to Paris in 1623/24 and from there came to England. In 1626 he entered the service of the young King Charles I, for whom he painted several pictures on Old Testament themes. He also decorated the Queen's house at Greenwich, London.
