Sandstone figure of Surya, the Hindu Sun God, central India, 11th. He is flanked on eithert side by the female attendants Usha and Pratiusha, the two aspects o the dawn that drive away darkness. His seven-horse chariot, seen at the bottom of the stele, is shown with Surya's charioteer, Aruna. His image is similar to several images of Vishnu. Though they had separate cults, they are both solar gods in early Vedic texts.                          OA 1872.7-1.56
