Byron Company (New York, N.Y.)
[Street Scenes, about 1918. E. 42nd St. No. Side-W. from Lexington Ave.]
The north side of East 42nd Street looking west from Lexington Avenue shows the 42nd Street entrance and main facade of Grand Central Station. There is an elevated subway station and tracks in front of Grand Central and a subway train is in the station. There is a large vacant lot across from Grand Central on East 42nd Street across which two covered walkways have been constructed. The lot is filled with rubble and may be a construction site. Pedestrian, automobile and streetcar traffic is seen along East 42nd Street and Park Avenue.
