The parents mourn together
The parents mourn together, The king is helped back into his palace by his queens. He repudiates Kaikeyi, telling her to dwell in the palace as a widow as he does not want to see her again, and is helped to bed by Kausalya and Sumitra, while the lesser queens mourn in their own apartments. Sumitra, mother of Laksmana, consoles Kausalya that she will see her son again. Image taken from Ramayana, Ayodhya Kanda. Originally published/produced in Udaipur, 1650.
