The heapstead at Kadeby Colliery, near Doncaster, South Yorkshire, 1956. Artist: Michael Walters
The heapstead at Kadeby Colliery, near Doncaster, South Yorkshire, 1956. The heapstead showing the top of the winding gear. Kadeby Colliery sat under the shadow of Conisborough Castle and after it closed in the 1980s became the location of the ill fated and ill planned Earth Centre. After swallowing millions of lottery cash the ecological park closed after a year. November 1956.
