Snellenburg's department store, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, 1914. Vintage postcard showing the exterior of the store and the street surrounding it. Streetcars move along the street, cars are parked in front of the store, and the sidewalk is teeming with pedestrians. N Snellenburg & Co began trading in 1869, aiming at the middle class market. The company's slogan was The Thrifty Store for Thrifty People. The store moved to this location, on Market and 12th Streets, in 1889. It closed in 1962.
