Ickworth House, Suffolk, 1953. The huge central rotunda of Ickworth House, viewed here from the gardens, is flanked by a pair of pavilions. The house was designed by Francis Sandys for Frederick Augustus Hervey, the fourth Earl of Bristol, also Bishop of Derry. The Earl intended to display his european art collection in the house. Work began in 1795 and did not finish until 1830, long after the Earl's death in 1803.
