Berlei Factory, Bath Road, Slough, Berkshire, 1937. Artist: Herbert Felton
Berlei Factory, Bath Road, Slough, Berkshire, 1937. Developments in transport and infrastructure allowed manufacturing firms to locate away from the traditional manufacturing areas. Berlei, the Australian-based garment manufacturers, opened a showroom in London in 1934, quickly followed by offices and a factory at Slough. Their factory, built in the International Modern style in 1936-7, was demolished in 1984.
