Aerial view of the Manvers coal processing plant, Wath upon Dearne, South Yorkshire, 1964. Artist: Michael Walters
Aerial view of the Manvers coal processing plant, Wath upon Dearne, South Yorkshire, 1964. The new Coal processing plant in the Dearne Valley near Rotherham was the National Coal Board's state of the art coal preparation facility and the largest industrial site in Europe at the time. The main structure shows the hoppers, which dispensed coal into the rail wagons, which passed beneath them. The site is now home to a new generation of industries which include call centres, and some of the largest warehouses in Europe.
