A rotary kiln section being welded in preparation for installation, Steetley, Nottinghamshire, 1962. Artist: Michael Walters
A rotary kiln section being welded in preparation for installation, Steetley, Nottinghamshire, 1962. The large ring in the centre of the cylinder is the kiln tyre which would eventually be supported on two large rollers. Naturally this picture represents only one section of the kiln, all of which would eventually be welded or riveted together. The kiln was being constructed for the processing of limestone for the Steetley Co.
