Colossal bronze head from a statue of the Emperor Hadrian (one and a quarter times life-size). Found in the River Thames, near the third arch of London Bridge. The statue may have been put up to commemorate Hadrian's visit to Britain in 122 CE. He was the first Roman emperor to wear a beard. Inv. 18,481,103.10.
