MEXICO, the Tro-Cortesianus or Madrid codex combines the codex Troano and Cortesiano: it is only one codex; Brasseur de Bourbourg facsimile (1869); Maya culture. Around an offering vase are gathered a Young god sitting in a temple (in a Maya codex, when there is no symbol to identify the gods, they are called Old or Young Gods), and the god of the merchants holding in his hands a rattle, and in the other hand a sacrifice knife. Lines and dots are numbers, often elements of the calendar. Glyphs are a writing system where certain glyphs express concepts, others syllables. This codex is made of horoscopes and calendars in order to assist the priests in their predictions and ceremonies.
