Family ossuary. Indoneasia, Dayak people. The Basap peopels of northeast Kalimantan near the town of Tarakan and the Malinau river pratice the rituals of a second interment. The body of the deceased person is first buried until the family assemble the nescessary funds for the funerary ceremonies of the second burial. After the second ceremony. The corpse and main bones are then unearthed and placed in a funerary family ossuary like this one which was placed in a grotto thus explaining its relatively good condition.
