Garofalo, Benvenuto Tisi (1481-1559)
Aula Costabiliana or Hall of the Treasure, vaulted ceiling frescoes. First decade 16th CE. Along the sides of the ceiling a large balcony with painted Oriental rugs and a gallery of characters, many with musical instruments. It is a showcase of the aristocracy of the time with portraits of rare elegance. Above the balcony are a turquoise sky with a gazebo filled with branches of fruit, knotted around the balustrade. This room is, in fact, a hortus conclusus, a secret garden. At the center, a magnificent rosette in carved and gilded wood.
