Meoto-iwa (the Wedded Rocks the Husband-and-Wife Rocks), Ise. In the Shinto religion the rocks represent the union of the creator gods Izanagi and Izanami. The rocks symbolizes the union of the male (identified with the larger rock) and female through a rope of rice straw called shimenawa, that is ritually replaced several times a year.
