Sarcophagus of the Amazones. Marble, Antonine period, 170-180 CE. It represents one of the final episodes of the Troyan War, when Pentesilea reaches Troy to help the Troyans, after Hector's death. Andromaca seats in the center, holding the ashes of Hector. Paris stands before her with a Phrygian cap. Behind him stands Ecuba. Pentesilea is depicted with the Amazons on the left and before Priamus on the right.
