Enthroned mother wearing a chiton, an himation, a peplos over the head, and holding a baby on her lap (Kourotrophoi). This type of statuettes was found in sanctuaries of Aphrodite, leading to the assumption that they were votive offerings for the protection of babies, or in gratitude for a safe birth. Ancient Cypriot Greek, 5th century BCE.
