Wren, Sir Christopher (1632-1723)
West facade of King William Court, Royal Naval Hospital, Greenwich. The building was designed by Sir Christopher Wren that laid the foundations in 1696 and completed by Sir John Vanbrugh in 1721. It served the original function of hospice for injured sailors until 1869. It was then occupied by the Royal Naval College. Since 1998 it houses the University of Greenwich.
