The Richard II Quadrant. England, 1399. Reverse with the Easter symbol of a rabbit or hare. It is thought that the quadrant was made for King Richard II (1377-99) shortly before his death. This quadrant appears to be the earliest example where punches have been used on an instrument. Radius 9.0 cm. Inv. M&ME 1860,5-19.1.
