Cleopatra's Needle, London. This obelisk was erected in Heliopolis, Egypt, on the orders of Thutmose III, around 1450 BCE. It was presented to the United Kingdom in 1819 by Mehemet Ali to commemorate British victories in Egypt against Napoleon. The obelisk was placed in the current location on Victoria Embankment in 1879.
