Cave-dwelling village in Uchisar. From the 4th to the 14th CE these buildings served as a hermitage for monks, where they sought refuge from Arab and Persian invaders during the 7th CE. After the fall of the Byzantine Empire, they were occupied by local populations until recently. Most of the town is unused today since the dwellings are susceptible to collapse.
