Hunting of wild animals to be used for games at the amphithaters detail. Upper register: a lion hiding hin its den (right) while a hunter is leading a lioness into a cage using a goat as a bait. Hunting the large wild animals was an Imperial right practiced by the army. Lower register: a ship carries the animals to Rome. Roman mosaic, 4th CE, found at Carthage in 1964. 380x310cm.
