Moosbrugger, Wendelin (1760-1849)
Portrait of Karl Ludwig Sand (1795-1820). Ca. 1820. Sand was a German university student and member of a liberal Burschenschaft. As a result of his execution, Sand became a martyr in the eyes of many German nationalists seeking the creation of a united German national state. Oil on canvas. Inv. E 130. Photo: Jean Christen.
