Artist-Johann George Junghans. Bergmann candlestick, ca.1690. Description: The candlestick figure appears in the miner's clothing of the 17th century with shirt and breeches as well as a bulging arschleder, which is held together with the side pocket for the Tscherpermesser by a belt. The head of the house is covered with chess hat and sweat cloth. With the left, the miner shoulders a flat ore trough, in the right he holds the handle of the drip tray.
The figure model underlying the tin casting is probably from the workshop of the Schneeberg sculptor Andreas Petzold (1628-1703). Pewter, 33.6 x 20.5 x 18.5 cm. Inv# 1885.2. Photo by Saturia Linke
