Survey tablet of Amar-Suen, probably from Tello (ancient Girsu), southern Iraq, Third Dynasty of Ur, about 2000-1900 BCE. This document is written in cuneiform in the Sumerian language. It is typical of tablets recording surveys of land. On each face, it lists in three columns of text eleven fields with their dimensions, and statistics of barley yields. Dated to the eighth year of King Amar-Suen (2046-2038 BC), the third ruler of a period when southern Mesopotamia was united with the capital at Ur. Inv. AN 18039.
