The Duchesse de Nemours reclaims the body of her son the Duc de Guise from Henri III, detail, oil painting on canvas, 1864, by Arnold Scheffer, 1839-73, in the Salle du Conseil or Council Room, the site of the assassination of the Duc de Guise in 1588, on the second floor of the Francois I wing, built early 16th century in Italian Renaissance style, at the Chateau Royal de Blois, built 13th - 17th century in Blois in the Loire Valley, Loir-et-Cher, Centre, France. The murder is retold in several 19th century paintings hung in the room. The chateau has 564 rooms and 75 staircases and is listed as a historic monument and UNESCO World Heritage Site.
