In Bayeux Cathedral, dedicated 1077, William the Conqueror forced Harold to take the oath which led to the Norman Conquest of England. After a 12th century war between William's sons the cathedral was reconstructed. Gothic and Neo-Gothic sections were added 13th-19th centuries.
