Tewkesbury Abbey, Gloucestershire. With its large Romanesque tower, this is one of the finest examples of Norman architecture in Britain. Begun in 1107, the abbey was a Benedictine monastery. The Prince of Wales was killed in the Battle of Tewkesbury on 4 May 1471 during the War of the Roses and was buried in the church.
