Whitworth Street/Princess Street, Manchester, c2000s(?). This aerial photograph shows the cotton warehouse district of Manchester, most of which date from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Manchester at this time was the focus of the Lancashire cotton industry and traded cotton both nationally and internationally. Many of these buildings were constructed not by independent merchants but by cloth manufactures with mills elsewhere.
