Shir-Dar Madrasa, Samarkand, Uzbekistan, c20th century. The Shir Dar or Sher Dor madrasa was built in the seventeenth century, as a teaching institution and residential school of Islamic sciences. Constructed by a Shaybanid feudal general, Alchin Yalantush Bahadur in erratic stages between 1619 and 1636.
