The Chevalier de Saint George (1745-1799), pupil of La Böessière père. Chevalier de Saint-Georges is the pseudonym of Joseph Bologne, originally from Guadeloupe, who arrived in Paris in 1753. He was a fencer, gendarme de la garde du roi, musician, leader of an orchestra and composer. Nobleman and a mulatto, the son of a plantation owner and a black slave from Guadeloupe. Color engraving.
