Tell Halaf-Museum, Berlin-Charlottenburg, Franklinstraße 6, First hall, section 8: Plaster cast of a male god. Photographed 1930. Basalt, Aramean, early 9th BCE. Discovered in 1899 by Max von Oppenheim in the headwater region of Habur (North-east-Syria), excavations at Tell Halaf were conducted between 1911-13 and 1929 In Antiquity the location was called Guzana and was the principal residence of the rulers of Bit Bachiani. The private Tell Halaf-Museum, opened in 1930 by von Oppenheim eröffnet, was destroyed by bombings in November 1943. Inv. WR_02101_04. No licensing for Merchandising products!
