Tell Halaf-Museum, Berlin-Charlottenburg, Franklinstraße 6, Second hall: Reconstruction of the second passage of the Western palace. Photographed 1930. Basalt. Aramaean, early 9th BCE. Discovered in 1899 by Max von Oppenheim in the headwater region of Habur (North-east-Syria), excavations at Tell Halaf were conducted between 1911-13 and 1929 In Antiquity the location was called Guzana and was the principal residence of the rulers of Bit Bachiani. The private Tell Halaf-Museum, opened in 1930 by von Oppenheim eröffnet, was destroyed by bombings in November 1943. Inv. WR_02101_03. No licensing for Merchandising products!
