Head of the Great Sphinx of Giza, built during the reign of king Khafre, in the Fourth Dynasty of the Old Kingdom, c. 2558-32 BC, and behind, the Pyramid of Khafre, also known as Pyramid of Chephren, built 2570 BC, seen from the ruins of the Temple of the Sphinx, at the Giza Pyramid Complex in Giza, Egypt. The sphinx is a mythical creature with the body of a lion and the head of a man, in this case king Khafre.
