A low angle view of the Obelisk in the Place de la Concorde, on November 22, 2008 in Paris, France. Originally standing outside the Amon Temple in Luxur, Egypt, the obelisk was presented to France in 1829 by the viceroy of Egypt, Mehemet Ali. Over 3,300 years old its hieroglyphics depict the reigns of Ramses II and Ramses III.
