Stonecarving on the ambo (pulpit) of the Cathedral of Bitonto. The insription states that "Nicolaus, Sacerdos et Magister" carved it in 1229. Historians are not sure whether these are Hohenstaufen kings, or whether it is a city-goddess being handed a sceptre.
