Study for a painting of the "Supper at Emmaus", around 1524-1525. In front, an older monk looks out directly to the artist; he gestures with both hands. The younger monk behind him is startled and turns his head. The "Supper at Emmaus" was painted in 1525 for the refectory at the Certosa in Galluzzo,Italy. PD, 1936-10-10-10.
