Scala Fine Arts Archive

Scala Fine Arts was founded in Florence, Italy, in 1953 when color photography was coming to be the medium of preference for recording works of art. The firm soon established working relationships with most of Italy's museums as well as a number of other institutions outside of Italy. It has at one time or another served as the official archive for many of these collections, including the Vatican Museums.

SCALA ARCHIVES is one of the largest and most prestigious fine art image archives worldwide. Transparencies and high resolution digital files of works of art from all over the world, covering every age and every field of visual arts (painting, sculpture, architecture, archaeology, the ancient & the modern world, decorative arts, photography, design, fashion etc.) are available for licensing to all media.

Italian art makes up the core of the collection, however the Library contains thousands of first-rate works from the rest of Europe, the United States, Russia, the Middle and Far East, and Africa.
