Affiliate Spotlight: SCALA ARCHIVES

Located in Florence, Italy, SCALA ARCHIVES is Europe's largest and most prestigious fine art image archive. Transparencies and digital files of art works from around the world, covering every age and every artistic genre, are available for licensing to all media. Italian art makes up the core of the collection, but the Archives contain tens of thousands of first-rate works from the rest of Europe, Russia, the Middle East, Asia and Africa.

All works from the SCALA ARCHIVES are available exclusively in North America through Art Resource, New York.

ITALIAN ART

SCALA ARCHIVES represents the collections of the Italian Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities. This collection includes tens of thousands of state-owned images from 583 museums, archaeological sites and libraries including the Brera, Capodimonte, Galleria Borghese, The Roman Forum, and Pompeii.

GALLERIA BORGHESE

Rome's Galleria Borghese contains a remarkable collection of Italian Baroque painting and ancient sculpture. Begun in the 17th century by Cardinal Sciopone Borghese, the Galleria Borghese includes such masterpieces as Gianlorenzo Bernini's "Apollo and Daphne", Caravaggio's "Sick Bacchus" and Titian's "Sacred and Profane Love".

THE UFFIZI GALLERY

Commissioned by the legendary Medici Family in the 16th century, the Uffizi Gallery is one of the oldest and most famous art museums of the world. Many masterpieces can be found at the Uffizi including "The Birth of Venus" by Botticelli, "Portrait of the Duke and Duchess of Urbino" by Piero della Francesca and "Young Bacchus" by Caravaggio.

SCALA ARCHIVES licenses its images to a worldwide base of clients, including BMW, TIME, Enel SpA, La Repubblica, Newsweek Magazine, Elena Miro, the BBC, RAI Television, Gallimard-Paris, Thames & Hudson-London, Kodansha-Tokyo, Slovo-Mosca and Taschen-Cologne.

MUSEO DEL PRADO

SCALA ARCHIVES offers most of the holdings of the Museo del Prado, located in Madrid, Spain. The museum is world renowned for its collection, which includes major works by such artists as Diego Velazquez, Francisco Goya, El Greco and Bartolomé Estéban Murillo.

THE HERMITAGE MUSEUM

Images from The Hermitage Museum, located in Saint Petersburg, Russia, are also available from SCALA ARCHIVES. Originally a palace to Russia's Tsars, the Hermitage has now grown to become one of the world's largest and finest collections of Western Art. Artists represented in the museum's holdings include Michelangelo, Cézanne, Rembrandt, Gauguin, Canova, Monet and Leonardo da Vinci.
