Art Resource Launches new Website

New York (July, 2004) - Art Resource, the world's most comprehensive collection of fine art images, is proud to announce the launch of its newly rebuilt site at www.artres.com . Art Resource is the leading source for images of painting, sculpture, and the minor arts from prehistoric times to the present, with over 150,000 scanned works immediately available plus access to over three million more images from its extensive archive. Images may be accessed by using simple text searches, or by cross-referencing, employing specific criteria such as "Subject", "Theme", "Artist Name", "Keyword", or "Location". If an image cannot be found online, Art Resource's staff of art historians is ready to assist you. "We've listened closely to our clients, and created this site to appeal to all types of users whether commercial, advertising or scholarly," said Dr. Theodore Feder, president and founder of Art Resource.

Current clients may login at www.artres.com using their existing passwords. New users are invited to search and register online.

Art Resource was founded in 1968 to provide a central and comprehensive source of images of painting, sculpture, and the fine arts, for both educational and commercial applications. It has since grown to be the largest single source of art historical imagery in the world. Today, Art Resource functions as the exclusive and official North American photo rights and permissions representative for over 60 major museums, among them The Museum of Modern Art of New York, the Pierpont Morgan Library, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the National Portrait Gallery (Smithsonian Institution), the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Tate Modern and Tate Britain, the State Museums of Berlin, and all 51 national museums of France, under the aegis of the Réunion des Musées Nationaux, including the Musée du Louvre, the Musée d'Orsay, the Musée Picasso, the Chateau de Versailles, and the Centre Georges Pompidou. Art Resource also offers images from thousands of other museums, sites, and monuments worldwide on a non-exclusive basis.

Art Resource's expert researchers, all trained art historians, are on hand to offer clients a full range of research services. They have been chosen for their pragmatism as well as their scholarship -- a rare combination that ensures a rapid and effective response to the diverse requests of our wide range of clients. To place a research request call (212) 505- 8700, e-mail requests@artres.com or search on the web at www.artres.com.
