For WINTER'S
RAINS
and RUINS
are over,
And all the season of SNOWS
and SINS;
The DAYS
dividing LOVER
and lover,
The LIGHT
that loses, the NIGHT
that WINS;
And TIME
remembered is GRIEF
forgotten,
And FROST
are SLAIN
And FLOWERS
begotten,
And in GREEN
underwood and cover
BLOSSOM
by blossom the
SPRING begins.
Algernon
Charles Swinburne (1837-1909),
from Atalanta in Calydon (1865)

Our
photograph of Pablo Picasso's "Guernica" was recently
used to create a life-size replica in Alfonso Cuaron's Academy
Award-nominated film "Children of Men". The work
featured prominently in a scene meant to depict one of the
last vestiges of culture and civilization in a dystopian near-future.
