On February 17th the United States celebrates the birthdays of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. To commemorate the occasion we present a selection of presidential portraits from the National Portrait Gallery, Smithsonian Institution.
The National Portrait Gallery was established by Congress in 1962 to house portraits of the men and women who have made significant contributions to the history of the United States, and of the artists who created such portraiture and statuary.
